DNA Connexions
DNA Connections offers the following tests:
- Lyme detection panel looks at 3 different species of Borrelia and 8 common co-infections.
- Propensity panel looking microbes involved with periodontal disease which can spread systemically and contribute to non-oral diseases in the body.
- Comprehensive Oral Health Panel – looks at foreign microbial DNA (88 microbes) of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites in removed teeth, blood, tissue, dental implants, bone grafts and other biological samples.
- Apolipoprotein E Panel (ApoE)- this test ability to detoxify mercury, Alzheimer’s susceptibility and other neurological and autoimmune diseases. The optimal genotype for removing mercury is ApoE 2/2, whereas ApoE 3/3 is the most prevalent in the human population. ApoE 4/4 is the most detrimental genotype and has poor mercury detoxification capacity.
We primarily us the the Lyme panel test. A positive PCR result indicates the presence of DNA from B. burgdorferi andor other co-infectors. A negative result does not necessarily mean that a patient is not infected with a tick borne infection, rather it indicates the absence of detectable Lyme and/or other tick borne co-infections, which may be due to the patients ability to fight the disease, timing of courses of antibiotics .
Tests includes:
- Borrelia burgdorferi F7
- B. burgdorferi Osp A
- B. burgdorferi Osp B
- B. burgdorferi Osp C
- Babesia microti
- Babesia divergens
- Babesia duncani
- Bartonella bacilliformis
