Frequency Specific Microcurrent

We offer Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) at our in-person clinic, both as an additional modality that takes place in a regular patient consultation, and as a separate modality, especially as there are no practitioners in this field in central London.

Carolina trained as an FSM practitioner with Dr Carolyn McMackin, who has spearheaded the research in this field.

What is Frequency Specific Microcurrent?

Frequency specific microcurrent (FSM) therapies were developed and used until 1932 in Europe by doctors, until the clampdown during that time on anything that wasn’t prescription medication. FSM is a treatment that delivers microamperage currents in specific pairs of frequencies for specific durations using electrodes for healing and renewal of the body’s cells, particularly on areas of damaged tissue and scarring. It is not a TENS device or treatment. The Frequency Specific Microcurrent machines that I use are FDA-approved.

What are the Benefits of Frequency Specific Microcurrent?

Studies have shown the benefits of FSM for:

  • Reducing pain response in tissues
  • Reducing neuropathic pain
  • Improving lymph drainage
  • Modulating inflammatory response
  • Raising ATP production

We use FSM for many conditions in clinic, including:

  • Scarring and pain, particularly in nerve and muscle tissue
  • Breast health
  • Improve injury healing time
  • Supporting vagal nerve tone and stress response
  • Improving collagen and elastin production in Ehler-Danlos patients
  • Anti-ageing protocols
  • Fibroids, endometriosis and other contributing factors to
  • Shingles, Lyme, co-infections and other conditions
  • Insomnia
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Cellulite, lipomas and lymphoedema

Treatments

An initial FSM consultation will last up to 90 minutes to allow us to take your case history.

Follow up treatments sessions are 60 minutes and may take place during your regular consultation if you are a clinic patient. We also offer FSM-only appointments. You may be lying down or sitting up for your treatment.

For frequency specific microcurrent to work effectively is imperative that you are well hydrated before treatment (2 x 250ml glasses of water in the hour or two before treatment).

You will require a course of treatments for most health concerns, including chronic pain, dysautonomia, sympathetic nervous system overactivation, anti-ageing protocols, scarring and adhesions, and more. Courses of treatments generally take place once a week for 4-6 weeks. Consistency and regularity is important and you should start to feel changes by the 3rd or 4th week.

The frequency combination programmes run will be chosen to suit your condition in the initial session. This may change or stay the same in future sessions.

The cost of your programme will depend on the frequency required for the programmes we run, and the duration of the treatments.

What If I Want My Own Machine?

Should a patient wish to invest in a machine, we can order this for you and populate the frequencies onto the machine for you, provided we review the frequencies at least every 3 months.

Safety Considerations

Frequency specific microcurrent is extremely safe. The microcurrent is in millionths of an ampere and does not stimulate sensory nerves, however it has an effect on cell function due to its similarity to the type of current our cells themselves produce. The frequencies are electronic pulses per second measured in hertz. Specific frequencies target different tissues and conditions.

The frequencies are applied to the body using gel electrode patches, either sitting upright during an appointment, or lying down, depending on what is being treated.

The currents are so small that there are minimal to no side effects. After treatment, there may be an emotional response, a Herxheimer reaction, a temporary flare or a lack of energy. It is important to rest after treatment.

We do not treat pregnant women.
