- Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia japonica, or You Ji Hu Zhang in Chinese) is native to eastern Asia and contains high amounts of resveratrol (specifically trans-resveratrol, which is the highest absorbable form). The whole plant also contains other beneficial components such as emodin, flavonoids (including rutin and quercetin), and oleanolic acid.
- It is considered strongly antimicrobial (biofilm, bacterial, Lyme, viral influenza, EBV and other herpes viruses, etc.), a biofilm-breaker and anti-inflammatory.
- Resveratrol is considered beneficial for cardiovascular issues, arthritis and for hypercholesterolaemia.
