- Manjista Supreme (Rubia cordifolia) is a traditional Ayurvedic medicine used as an blood purifier and liver and kidney detoxifier. It is considered an antioxidant, anxiolytic, immunomodulator as well as a lymphatic tonic. It has been used for inflammatory digestive conditions, and is used for allergic reactions and eczema, for excessive bleeding conditions (e.g. menorrhagia, trauma bleeds).
- Manjista has antimicrobial activity and studies have shown it to be an effective antiviral. Manjista has also been used throughout pregnancy and traditionally has been given to women with threatened miscarriage until the last trimester. This herb should not be used during lactation.
- Manjista contains some cardiac glycosides so maximum daily dose would be 30g/d. Manjista may turn urine temporarily orange or brown.
