- Albizia’s Chinese names translate to ‘happiness herb’ or ‘happiness bark’. Albizia has been used to help relieve stress, anxiety, and support mood and calm. Traditionally it is also used to treat difficult mental and emotional conditions like depression and grief. Albizia has also been historically used to treat insomnia, poor memory, irritability, and anger from suppressed emotions.
- The bark is considered valuable in Chinese medicine for healing external wounds and bone fractures, and for nourishing yin organs (heart, liver, spleen, lungs, kidney, pericardium).
- Albizia contains quercetin so is useful in anti-histamine protocols and mast cell activation. Albizia is anti-inflamamtory (inhibiting TNF-α-and NF-κB), has potent antioxidant activity and neuroprotective effects to support mitochondrial function.
- This herb should not be used during pregnancy or lactation.
